Automatic Driving Lessons

Learning to drive shouldn’t be a headache. Since our lessons run in automatic cars, you won’t have to worry about the gears at all. Instead, you can focus on your steering, the road rules, and feeling at home behind the wheel from day one.

Benefits of Learning in an Automatic Car

Traffic moves fast these days, especially around busy roundabouts or on the way to the shops. When you learn in an automatic, you can forget about gears and clutch control altogether. That means both hands stay on the wheel and your full attention stays on what’s happening around you.

You aren’t tied up with the mechanics of the car, so you can spend that time building real hazard awareness instead. It’s a relaxed way to get your licence and start driving on your own.

Who These Lessons Are Perfect For

Choosing an automatic vehicle is a great option for many different drivers. This path works best for you if:

What We'll Work On During Your Lessons

We keep our lesson plans simple and clear so you can become a safe, independent driver without the stress.

  • Smooth stopping and starting: Learn to manage your speed without sudden jerks and keep a safe gap behind other cars.
  • Hazard awareness and road positioning: Practise scanning for dangers, lane positioning, merging on highways, and handling multi-lane roundabouts.
  • Easy parking: Master reverse parallel parking, kerb parking, and getting into tight shopping centre spaces using simple reference points.
  • Driving test preparation: Drive real test routes so you know exactly what examiners look for on the day.
  • Mirrors and blind spots: Get comfortable setting up your mirrors properly and making head checks a total habit before changing lanes.
  • Regional road driving: Learn how to drive confidently alongside heavy trucks, give cyclists plenty of room, and stay alert for wildlife on the road.

Frequently Asked Questions

Your P1 licence will carry an automatic-only restriction (Condition A). This means you can't legally drive a manual car until you pass a manual test or move on to your full, unrestricted licence.

Up to 10 structured driving lessons with us count as triple hours, so 10 hours of driving banks 30 hours in your learner logbook. Any lessons after that count as normal single hours.

Yes, and it's straightforward. If manual driving has been a struggle, switching to automatic removes the stress of gears so you can focus fully on the road and traffic hazards.

We recommend starting out in our dual control cars for safety. Once you have the basics down, you can use your own automatic car as long as it's registered, roadworthy, and insured.

You can book your test online through the Service NSW portal. It's worth checking with your instructor first to make sure your logbook is complete and you're genuinely ready. If you don't have a suitable car on the day, we also offer car hire for your test.

You are still driven home as part of the booking. Many learners rebook a lesson or two afterwards to work on whatever came up during the test before trying again.
