Logbook hours in NSW
Learner drivers under 25 must record 120 hours of supervised driving, including 20 hours at night, before they can sit the driving test. Completing the Safer Drivers Course reduces this requirement by 20 hours. Most learners also take 10 to 20 professional lessons alongside their supervised practice.
The NSW driving test
The test is an on-road assessment with a Service NSW testing officer. You will be asked to demonstrate everyday driving plus set manoeuvres, and the officer marks against fail items that end the test immediately. We work through each of these in your later lessons so nothing on the day is a surprise.
Automatic or manual?
If you pass in an automatic, your licence is restricted to automatic vehicles. In a regional area, where work utes and farm vehicles are often manual, it is worth thinking ahead before you choose. We teach both — tell us early and we will start you in the right car.
Lesson length in Wellington

Longer sessions are not a downside: students generally cover more per lesson than they would in a single hour, because there is time to leave town and practise on the roads that actually come up on test day.
