Yes, you can hire a car for the test at an affordable rate. We also take students for a lesson just before the test so that they are confident and comfortable when the testing officer gets in.
Sitting the test in a car you have never driven is a genuinely bad idea. Unfamiliar mirrors, a different brake feel and a seat you have not set up before all cost marks in the first five minutes. Using the car you learned in removes that entirely.
What test car hire includes
- The car you learned in, fully insured, registered and maintained.
- A warm-up lesson immediately before the test, so you arrive settled.
- A vehicle that meets the requirements for a NSW practical driving test.
- Your instructor on the day to get you there and settle the nerves.
- Dual controls, which are covered during the test itself as required.
Before you book the test
Make sure the paperwork side is as ready as your driving:
- You have completed your required supervised driving hours.
- Your learner logbook is complete and signed.
- You have booked your test through Service NSW.
- You have your learner licence with you on the day.
- You have told us your test time so we can schedule the warm-up lesson.
Book the car when you book the test. Test slots and our car need to line up, and both get busy. Call as soon as Service NSW gives you a date.

Dual-control car hire for the driving test is $190 per hour.
It is strongly preferred. Sitting a test in a car you have never driven costs marks. If you have not had lessons with us, book at least one before the test so the car is familiar.
Yes. We run a lesson immediately beforehand and get you to the testing centre.
You book another test through Service NSW and we go again. Most of our students pass on their first attempt, but it is not the end of the world if you do not.
