Keeping your licence matters. In a regional area it is the difference between independence and relying on other people for every appointment, every shop and every visit. A senior driver assessment is about protecting that, not taking it away.
The session is a normal drive with an experienced instructor beside you. We look at the things that genuinely change with age — head checks and neck movement, reaction time, judgement at intersections, and how comfortable you are in heavier traffic — and we tell you honestly what we see.
What the assessment covers
- A normal drive on roads you would usually use.
- Observation and head checks, which are the most common thing to slip.
- Intersections, roundabouts and merging under real conditions.
- An honest conversation afterwards about what we noticed.
- Practical suggestions, which are often small adjustments rather than anything drastic.
Who books an assessment
Assessments are booked by older drivers themselves, and sometimes by family:
- Drivers who want reassurance that they are still driving safely.
- Drivers preparing for a licence medical or driving assessment.
- Drivers who have noticed their own confidence slipping.
- Families who are worried but do not want to have the conversation alone.
- Drivers returning to the road after surgery or illness.
This is not an official test. Licensing decisions are made by Service NSW and your doctor. Our assessment is a private session designed to help you keep driving safely for as long as possible.
