Our night driving lessons are designed to equip you with the skills and confidence needed to navigate the roads safely after dark — and to log the night hours NSW requires.

Driving after dark is a genuinely different skill. Depth perception drops, oncoming headlights wash out what you can see, and in the Central West there is wildlife on the road that simply is not there during the day. Learners who have only ever driven in daylight are not ready for it.
Night lessons work on the specific things that change after sunset: reading the road by headlight, judging distance and speed without daylight cues, managing glare, and scanning the verges for animals.
What night lessons cover
- Headlight use — high beam, low beam, and when to dip for oncoming traffic.
- Glare management and what to do when you are dazzled.
- Judging speed and distance without daylight reference points.
- Wildlife awareness on unlit roads around Dubbo and the surrounding towns.
- Night hours signed straight into your logbook.
The NSW night-hours requirement
Learner drivers under 25 in NSW must record:
- 120 hours of supervised driving in total.
- At least 20 of those hours at night.
- Night hours counted between sunset and sunrise.
- Completing the Safer Drivers Course reduces the overall requirement by 20 hours.
Book night lessons early. Twenty night hours is a lot to leave until the end, and in summer the window for night driving does not start until well after dinner. Spreading them out is far easier than cramming them.

Night lessons are $90 per hour with a minimum booking of two hours.
After sunset, which changes through the year. We run lessons until 8pm on weekdays and 7pm on weekends, so winter gives a much longer window than summer.
Night hours count toward your overall 120 hours and also satisfy the separate 20-hour night requirement. Your instructor signs them as night hours.
